Piece of history offered on eBay

A click of the mouse and deep pockets are all that's separating online bidders from a chance to own a rare piece of Canadian history that ranks among the country's most prestigious honours: One of the earliest Order of Canada medals.

My date with Mr 'eBay' Lonely Heart

Here I am sitting in a restaurant, eating steak with Mr Lonely Heart.
Mr Lonely Heart is Adam Croot, a 39-year-old insurance operations director who this week offered a very strange lot on the internet auction house eBay. He didn't offer a tricycle. He didn't offer a duvet cover. He offered himself.
Two months ago Adam was in love. He was dating a woman called Laura and together they booked a holiday at the Couples Swept Away Resort in Jamaica (does he know it sounds like a disaster movie?).
A few weeks later Laura called the whole thing off and Adam was left with a broken heart and two £1,200 tickets to Paradise for Valentine's week in February.
Most men would have wept, or got very cross. Adam put the holiday up on eBay, and included himself in the lot.

Child gets doll, pot stash for Christmas

A little North Carolina girl unwrapped a Bratz doll on Christmas morning and found three pounds of pot tucked under the doll's head.
Her mother called police.
WSOC-TV Charlotte reported Saturday that Rowan County detectives were investigating the source of the drugs. The doll was purchased on eBay by her mother, who said that the doll looked like it was still in factory packaging when it arrived so she wrapped it up and placed it under the tree without inspecting it.
Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff's Dept., said that drugs are frequently sent through the mail and that this particular doll was "obviously meant for someone else."
He placed the value of the drugs at more than $7,000.

Colorado Woman Selling Snow On eBay

As if Colorado residents don't have enough snow to dig out from, one resident is offering more for a price on eBay. Starting bids were holding steady Friday at 99 cents for snow from "Blizzard I and Blizzard II" being offered by Mary Walker.

She and husband, Jim, got the idea for selling snow after shoveling mounds from two storms a week apart that together dumped more than 4 feet along the Front Range."I figured eBay has ghosts and all sorts of weird stuff, so why not snow?" said Walker, who teaches business workshops on employee communications.

How much snow 99 cents or whatever the winning bid gets depends. Walker's auction notice suggests avoiding shipping and handling charges by stopping by their home and picking it up — in a dump truck.

eBay’s XXX-Mas auctions

Two of the hottest toys this holiday season were the Sony Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. And like most hot items, they end up on eBay. Thousands of sellers around the world tried to make a quick buck on these game systems. But with over 52,000 PS3 and over 40,000 Wii auctions posted in December, it was hard to stand out from the crowd. To get attention, some of the more creative sellers resorted to {gasp} sex.

Hey, big spender, wanna party?

If you have the dough, this New Year's Eve can be anything you want it to be.
Bids are still being accepted for what could be the priciest party in New York City tonight.
Bidding on eBay started at $100,000 and could climb as high as half a million for an opportunity to party the night away with the wise guys from "The Sopranos" and your pals at the Hard Rock Cafe, with all proceeds going to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
The winning bidder of the eBay auction, which ends this afternoon, will have the chance to hang out with Steven Van Zandt and a handful of cast members at an all-inclusive VIP New Year's Eve bash for them and 799 of their closest friends at the Hard Rock Cafe.
