eBay users can now view sample screenshots of eBay's recently announced "Feedback 2.0" system on the eBay UK website. The new system will allow buyers to rate transactions on item description, communication, shipping time, and shipping & handling charges. In late February, eBay will pilot Feedback 2.0 on eBay.co.uk, eBay.ie and in Australia, Belgium, France, India, Italy and Poland. If all goes well, eBay will launch the new system globally in late spring or early summer.

Weakness in Ebay's Core Auction Revenue Worries Analysts
Houston, TX - The world's No. 1 auction Website, Ebay is showing weakness in its core auction revenue with no indication of improving conversion rates, despite lower listings, according to Piper Jaffray analyst Safa Rashtchy.
"Investors should focus on user monetization and marketing efficiency metrics," writes Rashtchy.
The investment banking analyst noted that listings were down 8 to 11 percent over its estimate.
Rashtchy said that, "Ebay's revenue per auction has been $1.65, we expect it to be $1.73 in Q4; for a full recovery, revenue per auction should be above $1.82."

Questions about eBay's Ban on Auction Extenders
Today's article on eBay's ban of extender tools has raised some questions from readers. They want to know why eBay considers changing auction duration "fee avoidance." Here's what one reader had to say:"I'm trying to figure out how it's "fee avoidance" if the price for 1-7 day auctions is the same, and if you extend to 10 days, eBay bills you for that.
"Another reader said, "The only way you can come up with a fee avoidance by using an extender is if eBay is saying that by using an extender you are increasing your success rate (sellthrough) and therefore having to relist less often and therefore depriving eBay of fees. But even that greed-based concept is flawed since increased sellthrough means more FVF fees for eBay. Again, I hope you can get eBay to clearly explain how an extender constitutes fee avoidance."

Don't Get Burned on EBay: How to Avoid Scams and Escape Bad Deals by Shauna Wright
Lots of books tell you how to buy and sell on eBay. But what if something goes horribly awry? Do you have to chalk it up to a "lesson learned," lick your wounds and move on? Not a chance. Don't Get Burned on eBay offers relevant lessons based on real-life stories posted on eBay's Answer Center. With sharp, witty rhetoric, veteran eBay user Shauna Wright (co-founder of the popular web site ), shows eBay veterans and newcomers alike how to avoid those nasty scenarios, and how to pull themselves out of the muck if they've already fallen in. Six entertaining (and hair-raising) chapters cover real problems that people have encountered with bidding, payment, shipping, packaging, dealing with other eBayers, and coping with the eBay system. This book is for anyone who's ever used eBay, because even veteran buyers and sellers often don't know the intricacies of eBay's and PayPal's rules. Don't Get Burned on eBay will leave you well-informed and better protected from potential pitfalls. The book's extensive glossary and numerous in-depth sidebars also make the book useful to people who haven't yet taken the plunge into eBay.

Now this is someone using is head to good use.
If being diagnosed with leukemia wasn't bad enough, Patrick Pedraja's hair started falling out from the chemotherapy treatments."That was a big thing," said Patrick, who's 11 and likes to be called Pat. "I loved my hair.
"But his newly expansive forehead gave him a bright idea. If he could get companies to pay to advertise on his noggin, he could use the money for a good cause, like going around the country to recruit bone marrow donors to help others with leukemia. So Pat and his mom, Claudine Andrews, who live in Palm Harbor near Tampa, went to the world's pop culture marketplace - eBay - and opened an online auction.
For a minimum bid of $5,000, Pat offered to wear a temporary tattoo on his forehead for a month touting the winning bidder's goods or services.
